Ellen Kahn Biography

Ellen Kahn is an Emmy Award–winning, multi-disciplinary artist and a pioneer in digital media. She is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Visual Arts. Alongside her sister Lynda, Ellen is a founding partner of TwinArt, an internationally recognized art brand that has exhibited in major museums including the Whitney, the Centre Pompidou, ICA London, the Nassau County Museum of Art, the Laguna Art Museum, and the Tokyo Video Biennale. Most recent, exhibitions include: AfterGlow X TwinArt at Melissa Morgan Fine Art in Palm Desert, 1+ twinart residency and show at Gary Wexler Studio Gallery, Palm Springs, My Sister, My Self at CPW, Kingston, NY and Flux Factory’s Spiritual Machines in Governors Island, NY. Ellen is included in the White Columns Artist Registry and is featured in Soho Artist History Book written by Tsipi Ben-Haim.

Ellen began her career as a creative director at the dawn of cable television, contributing to groundbreaking projects for MTV, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, Emilio Pucci, Martini & Rossi, Polaroid, and Absolut Vodka. Her leadership roles include serving as a Governor of the Television Academy and on its Executive Committee and a founding board member of City Hall Park Conservancy in New York.

She holds a BFA from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture, graduating magna cum laude after studying in both Rome and Philadelphia. She continued her post BFA studies at California Institute of the Arts with a merit scholarship.

Ellen resides in Palm Springs and Tribeca, New York.
